Apophis was the traditional Egyptian god of chaos and the enemy of Ra, the solar god. He was depicted as a large serpent and was believed to be the personification of darkness and chaos. In keeping with fantasy, Apophis sought to stop Ra from finishing his journey by way of the underworld, as this is able to trigger the solar to rise and produce mild and order to the world.
